In 2016, we received a generous grant from the European Union to publish ten books in translation from Eastern Europe. After working for two years with authors and translators, they were published in 2018. Dalkey Archive’s project has transnational mobility as its main priority, and the project is an important step in continuing the Press’s consistent record of publishing writers from Eastern, Central Europe, and the Balkans. The program privileges cultural and linguistic diversity in Europe from different Central and Eastern European countries. Focusing on the internationalization of Eastern European literature is of singular importance to the project to create a broader context for audiences to better understand these books.
