It is with great sorrow that we report that Nicholas Mosley died this afternoon. Continuing to write and oversee its publication-in-progress up until very recently, he will be very much missed by current and past staff at Dalkey Archive who had the enormous pleasure of knowing him. Our thoughts are with his wife Verity, his great helper and love, as well as with with his family, especially Marius who kept us informed about his father and made sure that his father’s final book will appear as he wished it to.

It is my view that Nicholas, along with one American writer, were the great innovators of the past fifty years, and was in all sense what is known as a writer’s writer. His novel Impossible Object ranks as one of the finest novels of the past century. I will miss him as among the closest of friends.
