PEN World Voices: The Best of Contemporary Mexican Fiction

Event date: May 01, 2009

With Dick Cluster, Álvaro Enrigue, Guillermo Fadanelli, and Olivia Sears; moderated by Martin Riker

From Octavio Paz to Coral Bracho, Carlos Fuentes to Juan Rulfo, the Mexican literary tradition has birthed and influenced many of our generation’s masters. But too many modern Mexican voices go unheard in the U.S., as lack of translation and publication opportunities present a literary checkpoint. This event will celebrate a landmark new bilingual anthology in which sixteen of Mexico’s leading writers deliver a glimpse of the rich tapestry that is contemporary Mexican fiction.

Friday, May 1: Instituto Cervantes New York
211-215 East 49th Street, NYC
1-2:30pm; free and open to the public
