New website functions
Posted on: April 11, 2008A few things to note about this new website.
It contains all of the resources from our previous website: book pages for each of our titles, full contents of CONTEXT magazine, reviews from RCF, author interviews, casebook studies, and so on. We're still updating a few things but should be current in a week or two. There's a sitemap link at the top right corner that makes the site easy to navigate.
We've also redesigned the catalog search in order to make our titles easier to browse and/or locate. Under "Dalkey Archive Full Catalog" you'll find tabs that let you search by author, country, genre, title, or series. The actual text of each book is also fully searchable through Google search.
There are some other new functions (this blog-space, for one) although my own favorite is the new front page, which features an excerpt from a different Dalkey book each time the page loads. So you can sit there hitting "HOME" over and over and find a different book each time.
When you consider that part of our mission as a nonprofit organization is not only to publish great books but to keep them in print and to keep finding new readers for them, you can understand why we decided to use our front page this way. These rotating excerpts are a way of letting you find out about Dalkey books you might never have seen.
We wanted a site that would be more than anything else about the books themselves, about reading them.
