PAID INTERNSHIP: PERSONAL
ASSISTANT TO PUBLISHER/EDITORIAL
Dalkey Archive Press has two potential internships: 1) Assistant to Publisher in the United States; and 2) Assistant to Publisher in Ireland.
Half of time will be editorial: editing and developing editorial skills in the areas of copy editing and proofreading, researching texts for publication, evaluating manuscripts, writing reader reports.
Other half of the internship will be aiding the publisher to do his work more effectively, and will encompass a wide range of duties.
Requirements: BA or MA in appropriate field; deep reading background in literature, especially of Dalkey Archive books; general cultural knowledge in the arts, especially film and music; superior writing skills; reliable, dedicated, flexible, well-organized; can work independently. Preference will be given to someone with advanced foreign language skills and strong interest in translation work.
Start Date and Compensation: Internships will begin as soon as right candidate is identified, but preferably by beginning of June to mid-June. Compensation: will be dependent on background and experience, but assume that this will be an entry-level compensation of approximately $19,000. May include room and board.
